Case Planning: A Crucial Step in Implant Dentistry
The Importance of Pre-Operative Implant Gauge Indicator Use
The Edison Medical dental implant screwdriver portfolio provides a range of options for the screwing and tightening of abutments and implant cover screws. All of EM’s hand screwdrivers, torque ratchet screwdrivers, and latch motor mount screwdrivers are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel and are designed for use with more than 70 of the market’s dental implant systems, including Astra Tech®, Straumann®, Zimmer®, Nobel Active®, Osstem® / Hiossen®, MegaGen®. EM’s dental screwdrivers are available both as individual units, and are also found in our dental implant kits.
Hand screwdrivers feature either a 1.2-mm hex, 1.25-mm (0.5-inch) hex, UniGrip, or Torx tip, and are available in three size options: short (10.0 mm), long (15.0 mm), and extra-long (30.0 mm). Edison Medical’s hand screwdrivers feature a diverging hex that facilitates better screw tightening and screw transport. The handle of all EM hand screwdrivers are finely textured to encourage maximum grip during use, and equipped with a hole through which a ligature can be attached.
EM’s implant screwdriver portfolio features screwdrivers for use with rounded or squared torque ratchets, all of which are intended for dental screw insertion and tightening.
Dental implant screwdrivers for use with rounded torque ratchets feature a 7.0 mm-diameter head and are available in a short (22.0 mm) or long (28.0 mm) option. The rounded torque ratchet screwdriver features a square driver, round adapter and a 1.2-mm hex tip. EM’s other rounded torque ratchet screwdrivers feature across-brand usability with more than 70 implant systems and feature one of three tips: 1.25-mm hex, UniGrip or Torx.
Squared torque ratchet screwdrivers feature a 4.0-mm squared head and are available in a short (12.0 mm) and long (18.0 mm) length, and either a 1.2-mm hex, 1.25-mm (0.5”) hex, UniGrip or Torx tip.
For screwdriver use with a handpiece motor, Edison Medical offers a selection of latch-type motor mount screwdrivers. Available in a short (22.0 mm) or long option (28.0 mm), these screwdrivers feature either a 1.2-mm hex, 1.25-mm (0.5-inch) hex, UniGrip or Torx tip.
One of Edison Medical’s top priorities is guaranteeing a superior quality in all of its products. All of EM’s dental implant tools and instruments, including its implant screwdrivers and universal implant drivers, are milled at its manufacturing facility in Germany from high-grade AISI 400 stainless steel. All of Edison Medical’s products undergo rigorous inspection and testing prior to packaging.
The additional processes that are applied to stainless steel before and after the milling process can drastically alter the quality of the final product. Edison Medical uses hardening, passivation and electro-polishing on all of its stainless steel. With this combination of treatments, EM’s implant tools and instruments are as strong as possible, highly resistant to corrosion and built to last through heavy use, cleaning and sterilizing.
A dental implant screwdriver is used during the dental restoration process to screw and tighten abutments and implant cover screws. This family of screwdrivers includes hand screwdrivers, torque ratchet screwdrivers, and latch motor mount screwdrivers.
